THE BATTLE | SNAPCHAT vs INSTAGRAM !!!

Hey Zengarmy,

Okay. True story here.

I just downloaded & signed up for the Snapchat app for like,
I don't know, maybe not more than 48 hours? And guess what?

I AM OBSESSED.

Well, not in the sense of possessed by a real ghost.

But yeah, the official logo for Snapchat is a ghost,
so I'm LITERALLY POSSESSED BY A SNAPCHAT GHOST !!!!!!
The obsession has come to a point where I had to check my Snapchat

every hour every day for new stories to quench my "Snapchat thirst" !!!
Yup. The struggle is real. That's how bad my addiction is.

Alright. Enough of the intro bullshit.
Moving on to the real topic today.

Today's blog post is specially dedicated to
the battle between Snapchat and Instagram.
However, this blog post idea is inspired by Xiaxue,
who is one of the top celebrity bloggers in Singapore.
Love her personality so so much!
I'll link her Dayre blog post down below,
be sure to go and follow her main blog & Dayre blog
because her blog posts are really funny. Like REAL FUNNY.
PS : Her main blog is really pink too. Just a warning. Hahaha!

Before Snapchat was invented,

Instagram was my top favorite social media app.
I was a huge hardcore fan of Instagram,
I upload new Instagram photos almost daily!
(the best record is 3 times daily & the worst record is 2 times weekly,
I don't even know why I'm telling you this but yup, welcome to my brain hahaha.)
But lately I feel like I'm not digging Instagram that much.
( which I am going to state the reasons down below in just a minute. )
So when Snapchat came into my life 2 days ago, I was totally blown away!

Here are the reasons why :

[ 1. FOLLOWERS COUNT ? ]

Instagram is just too much pressure.

When you post too frequently, people unfollow you.
When you post less frequently, people unfollow you.
When your caption is boring, people unfollow you.
When people follow you & you don't follow back within the next 24 hours,
people unfollow you.
When you post a slightly-less-high-quality-than-your-usual-instagram-photos-photo,
people unfollow you.

Like, is this for REAL ???
On Instagram, people have so many reasons to unfollow you.
Unfollowers? Everywhere. Every second.
I even had to download an unfollower tracking app
for both my Instagram and Twitter accounts to keep track of my unfollowers!
( Thank you to whoever that invented the unfollower tracking app. Thank God. )
There's just so much hassle to grow your Instagram account unless you are a celebrity.
Like I can seriously tell you guys that my Instagram followers count had been stucked
at 4.2K for 6 months already, BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP UNFOLLOWING !!! ARGHHH !!!

Compared to Instagram, Snapchat is so much hassle-free when it comes to

followers count, because THERE'S NO FOLLOWERS COUNT! AHAHAHAHAHA!
When I first downloaded the app, it did take me some time to figure out
that there's no public display of your amount of followers on your profile,
which makes every thing less pressurizing, mwahahhahaha.

If you haven't download Snapchat yet,
I strongly suggest you to do so, because you can go and follow
all the celebrities to see their lives a little bit closer compared to Instagram,
where almost everything is fake-canned, filtered and nicely packaged, duh.
Snapchat is like a hybrid between Instagram and Facebook, where you can post stuff.
And the best part? You can spam stuff without having to worry about followers!

ROUND 1 : SNAPCHAT WINS !!!

[ 2. SPAMMING ? ]

If you don't know what spamming is,
spamming is an action where you post multiple contents all at once,
causing the main feed to be all stuffed with your contents.
People usually do that for more likes and followers.
But if you do that on Instagram nowadays,
you get less likes & more unfollowers. lol.
If you do that on Snapchat, people will be more than happy.
Like what I mentioned earlier, Snapchat users can CHOOSE whether
they want to see your content or not, without having to unfriend or unfollow you,
because every user's snapchat posts will be categorized as individual stories,
and if people don't like your contents, they can simply tap away.
No like and dislike buttons involved, no comments allowed.

However, on Instagram, users CANNOT choose whether they want to
see your posts or not, EXCEPT by UNFOLLOWING you, which sucks.
On top of that, people can freely leave hate comments and advertisements
below your posts, which is another downside of Instagram.

ROUND 2 : SNAPCHAT WINS !!!

[ 3. WHO SCREENSHOT YOUR POSTS ? ]

People like to screenshot, but wouldn't it be better
if you can actually see WHO SCREENSHOT YOUR CONTENTS ?
Snapchat totally nailed this aspect !!!
On Snapchat, you can actually tell WHO SAW YOUR CONTENT &
WHO SCREENSHOT YOUR CONTENT, which is a much needed function
that most of the social media apps neglected.

ROUND 3 : SNAPCHAT WINS !!!

[ 4. CONTENT LONGETIVITY ? ]

Everybody should know that once you posted something online,
there's 90% of chance that it will STAY FOREVER ONLINE,
no matter how hard you try to delete it later.
But on Snapchat, your contents stay online NOT MORE THAN 24 HOURS.
Once exceeded 24 hours, your Snapchat post will be automatically deleted online,
but fear not, there's still a button for you to save your contents onto your phone.
Frankly said, I am not much of a big fan of this system,
but I would still give credits to its security aspect.

ROUND 4 : DRAW !!!

[ 5. IS INSTAGRAM REALLY "INSTANT" ? ]

The answer is NO.
People spent hours choosing filters and captions.
No more instantly-snapped-instantly-posted pictures,
people post carefully posed photos taken with expensive cameras.
They angled and positioned their desserts.
It's no longer a reflection of real life, but another Pinterest board.
Snapchat, on the other hand, is a complete opposite. It is authentic.
You can only post videos or pictures you took right at that instance.
No photoshop. No DSLR. It's a true reflection of what's happening in your life.
And as I mentioned umpteen times, you can spam stuff.
People can easily just tap your content if they don't like it.
No comments. No likes. No followers count. It's liberating.

ROUND 5 : SNAPCHAT WINS !!!

Instagram developers better pull their shits together.
Because if more people joined Snapchat, Instagram will be killed, for sure.

Btw, add me on my Snapchat !!! *self-promo time*
I know you're all busy people so I will stop writing here lol.
My Snapchat username is zengteck.

  2. Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they plainly don't know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as
defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal.

Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
